When parking lot lights go out and stay out, most people assume it's a bad bulb or a tripped breaker. Easy fix, right? Not always. This job in Brian Head is a perfect example of why skipping real troubleshooting costs you time and money. The lights had been completely dead for about a year - and nobody had figured out why.

Here's what we were actually dealing with: the parking lot had been repaved at some point, and the repaving work crushed and broke the underground conduit. That damage left the wiring inside exposed, burnt, and buried under gravel and dirt with zero protection. There's no breaker reset that fixes that.

This is the part of electrical work that most people never see. Digging down to find the actual fault, tracing conduit runs, pulling out damaged wiring - it's not glamorous, but it's exactly what separates a real repair from a band-aid. We got into the trench, found the break, and pulled the burnt wire out by hand so we could assess the full extent of the damage before running new conduit and wire.

Outdoor electrical troubleshooting is one of those things that looks simple until it isn't. Underground wiring damaged by ground movement, repaving, or just age doesn't give you obvious symptoms. The light is either on or it's off. Getting to the root cause takes patience and the right approach - not guessing.

If you've got outdoor lighting that's been dark for longer than it should be, that's usually a sign something deeper is going on. We handle this kind of buried wiring repair and conduit replacement regularly, and we know how to track down the problem without unnecessary guesswork.
